Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Q: Do students have to attend monthly meetings in order to attend the conference?
A: Students do not have to attend monthly meetings in order to attend the conference. However, it is encouraged that they participate throughout the school year.
Q: Do students have to be from participating schools to attend the conference?
A: Students do not have to be from participating schools to attend the conference. Though a large percentage of participating students come from independent schools, students in grades 8 - 12 from all schools are welcome to attend the conference.
Q: Can students pay partial registration fees if they come late? How late can students arrive at the conference?
A: Students cannot pay for only part of the registration fee; if they are attending the conference for any duration of time, they must pay the entire registration fee. No partial or full refunds are given. Also, a student's registration must be paid in full before they are allowed to participate in the conference.
Being that the workshops are a significant feature of the conference, students may not arrive any later than 2 PM or the beginning of the second workshop. Also, if a student decides to leave the conference at any point of time, they may not return. Please talk with Mrs. Marable if you have extenuating circumstances related to family or an unavoidable event related to school that could jeopardize your full participation in the conference.
Q: How can we pay for registration?
A: Payments for registration may be submitted online, using the conference payment page (credit/debit card), or by check. Checks should be addressed to "Diversity Awareness Initiative for Students." Payments must be submitted before the stated deadlines. If you have any other questions concerning payments, please talk to Mrs. Marable.
Q: Can adults participate in the conference?
A: Adults may not register or participate in the conference. Adults may sign up to be a chaperone/volunteer, but participation in any part of the conference beyond ascribed responsibilities is prohibited.
