Board Members
Joan Marable
Executive Director
The Executive Director is DAIS’ Chief Executive Officer, responsible for its administration and the conduct of its daily affairs; as well as supervising the student members during meetings, and training them in group facilitation. She also serves as a liaison between the Board of Directors, the student membership, DAIS alumni and all active supporters of DAIS.
Joan is a Trustee Emeritus of the Packer Collegiate Institute in Brooklyn.
Kenneth Marable
Board President
As the President of the Board, Ken leads and collaborates with fellow Board members and the Executive Director. He also serves as an adult advisor for student participants.
Kenneth is a financial advisor with Prudential Advisors and Pruco Securities, LLC. He is actively involved with the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce and serves the greater community through 500 Men Making a Difference.
Wendy Van Amson
Board Member
Wendy collaborates with the Executive Director and fellow DAIS Board members. She also serves as an adult advisor for student participants.
Wendy is co-founder and director of the Independent School Diversity Network (ISDN), an alliance of parents and educators dedicated to facilitating and supporting diversity efforts in independent schools.
Barbara Brennan
Board Member
Barbara collaborates with the Executive Director and fellow DAIS Board members. She also serves as an adult advisor for student participants.
Barbara is a board member emeritus of NYC Parents in Action, where she served as a parent discussion facilitator.
Kimberly Marable
Board Member
Kimberly is a co-founder of DAIS, as well as a member of the Board. Kimberly collaborates with the Executive Director and fellow DAIS Board members. She also serves as an adult advisor for student participants.
Kimberly is an actor on Broadway who has performed in musicals such as Chicago- The Musical, Sister Act, The Book of Mormon, and The Lion King. She is co-founder and co-director of Broadway Serves, a Broadway community service organization looking to "be the change we want to see in the world." Kimberly also serves as a Trustee on the Board of Broadway Cares/Equity Fights Aids.
